Fraudster dupes man on pretext of getting Rs one crore

A fraudster duped a man of Rs one lakh on pretext of encashing Rs one crore insurance policy of a deceased person. The accused was identified as Chetan Nishant Rewatkar alias Chetan Maudekar, a resident of Kharbi. According to police, the accused told complainant Chhotelal Naginaram Bharati (34), a resident of Chankapur colony, that he was working as Assistant Manager in SBI’s Chhapru Nagar branch. Stating a bank customer died recently, the fraudster promised him to encash Rs one crore insurance policy of the deceased in his name by showing him as the legal heir of the deceased person. The accused had accepted Rs one lakh from Bharati and gave some documents to him. When Bharti produced the documents in a bank in Khaparkheda, the bank officials told him that the documents were bogus. An offence under provision of IPC was registered by Lakadganj police.
